No pictures for this post... just a couple theme-related vignettes.
So, first, background: the kids both love "Target store". I'm slightly ashamed to admit it, but here goes. When times are desperate (it's cold out, kids are bored, we need a change of scenery, no playdates on the horizon) we sometimes go to Target--just as an outing (and sometimes, for a special twist, we add PetSmart to the tour). We do this even when we don't need or plan to buy anything... They like cruising the toy aisles and, since they are too young to pester us to buy things, it's fun--like going to a zoo of toys. Or, is it more like training them up to be little consumers who thinking shopping is a pastime...??? Oh dear, we really must stop this practice.
Ok, ok, you didn't come here for the confessional. Here's the goods:
So, Evelyn loves necklaces. If you show up at our house with one on, she'll likely compliment you on it: "petty neckus", she'll say. The other day, she was wanting to have my necklace and I was saying, "Oh, Evelyn, this is mama's. I don't have one for you. We'll have to buy one just for you." She nodded her head firmly and said: "OK, Evie Target Store neckus buy." Pretty good sentence, huh? More recently, she was poking her wet sticky fingers on my glasses, saying "mama's glasses" and then she pointed to her eyes and said "Evie's glasses!" And I said, "Well, no, you don't have glasses." And she said "Yes, at Target Store." Ohhhhhhh, so that's where they are.
Then, yesterday, we were all in the car playing a game we often play with the kids. So, I say to Jess, "are you mama's boy?" and he nods and say "yeah, mama's bee" (his pronunciation of 'boy'). Then Brent, playing his part, asks indignantly, "Hey, what about dad?" And faithful Jess says: "Daddy's bee!" Then it's quiet for awhile and Jess says: "Car's bee!" Clearly, the guy isn't as discriminating as we thought... While we're laughing at his comment, Evelyn pipes in with her two cents: "Target Store's bee!"

I'm laughing! I'm sensing a theme with Miss Evelyn here. I have a feeling you're going to have to figure out the allowance thing earlier than most parents just so Evelyn can feed her Target Store desire. lol!
Soo funny and cute! Looks like I picked the correct place for a giftcard!! Their language sounds great!! Way to go Jess and Evie!
