The Easter Post (half a year later)

Yes, it's late-October. Yes, Easter was in back in...er, April...or sometime around then. But, you see, I have these pictures of the kids at Easter, and I even edited them shortly after I took them, and...well, they're pretty cute. So, really, it does seem a waste not to post them just because the holiday itself is a thing of the distant past.

Things were pretty hectic during the Lenten/Easter season. I'd been traveling for some talks, we were in the midst of trying to get the house ready to put on the market, etc., etc. Anyhow, it became clear we'd fallen somewhat short of our parental duties when, a week or so before Easter we were visiting with my cousin's family in Chicago, and the kids were asked if they were excited about the upcoming visit from the Easter Bunny. Their response? "What does 'Easter Bunny' mean?" (I'd been unsure about to say to the kids about the whole Easter Bunny thing and had apparently dealt with the situation by simply not mentioning him at all.)

I went home resolved to do some thinking about what traditions we wanted to put in place around the celebration of Easter. And, I'm glad to report, we did manage to begin what I hope will be new family traditions for celebrating the holiday. In the end, we enjoyed a nice, restful, joyful Easter. (Indeed that weekend felt like an oasis in the midst of the chaos of all that was going on in life during that time.) We enjoyed a potluck at Church, an afternoon meal with our friends, the Stumps, and a leisurely evening BBQ with the Malones.

Here are a few more pics from the weekend:

Sunday Morning...empty tombs:

Sunday morning, the kids awoke to find empty tombs!
(Those are salt-dough tombs the kids made...)

And then Church...

HAPPY EASTER!
