Assembly Required

So, on the afternoon Christmas eve mom calls and leaves a message on the machine that ends with these words, "...and, oh yeah, and don't forget that our gift for Jess and Evelyn will require some assembly." (We'd planned all along to have it put together and sitting out on Christmas morning.)

It wasn't till something like 9:30 that evening we finally got around to opening the box in question. Here's what we find.

On mom's behalf, the following may be said: 1. She had no idea. 2. She was very sorry. 3. She was especially sorry since she bought a second one of these things for (my sister's daughter) Addy and wound up having to help put that one together...

She left me an email very early the next morning inquire as to whether we were still on speaking terms with her. Seriously, though, I have a feeling this isn't going to be the first late Christmas eve we spend assembling toys and, in the end, it turned out (several hours! later) nicely. The kids will love it.
